Staying Motivated: Keeping Your WHY Close By

Thank you for sharing and being part of this journey! Remember, this is a safe and confidential space, so please have your cameras on with your name displayed on Zoom (join HERE!). Join the chat, share your stories, and reflect on the topics. Here’s the link to our calendar: Project Reset Calendar. Try to stick to a consistent time each week, but we understand if you need to switch sessions.

Mindset

Setting realistic goals starts with understanding your “why.” Why did you begin this journey? What are the deeper reasons driving you forward? Keeping this “why” close can transform moments of struggle into opportunities for growth. To solidify your mindset, we will create a “WHY card” in our Project Reset session this week. A WHY card that captures your main motivator—whether it’s to gain energy, improve health, or feel more confident. Keep this card in a place where you can see it often, like on your mirror or phone background, so it’s a constant reminder of the purpose behind your goals.

Realistic goals aren’t about perfection—they’re about consistent, sustainable progress. If your “why” is to feel healthier, set a daily goal like walking 10 minutes each morning rather than jumping to intense workouts right away. Each time you achieve a small goal, you reinforce your commitment to your “why” and build the resilience needed for long-term success.

Movement

Throughout Project Reset, our Movement Mission has been about discovering activities you genuinely enjoy. Why? Because when you find joy in movement, it becomes easier to make it a consistent part of your daily routine. And consistency is the key to unlocking the incredible benefits of exercise!

But here’s something just as important: pay attention to how you feel after you move. Whether it’s a brisk walk, a yoga session, or a dance class, take a moment to check in with yourself.

  • Do you feel more energized?
  • Are you more relaxed?
  • Is your mood brighter?
  • Is your stress lower?
  • Are you sleeping better?
  • Are you feeling more confident?

You’ll never regret a workout! These positive feelings can be powerful motivators. Use them as a reminder of how movement improves your well-being, far beyond just physical changes. Use this Post-Movement Check-In as your guide.

Take a moment to reflect on your personal “WHY” for moving. Maybe it’s to feel more capable, boost your mood, or reduce stress. Whatever it is, write it down and keep it visible—on your fridge, desk, or phone. This small step can remind you why showing up for yourself is so worth it.

Celebrate those wins—big or small—because every bit of movement is progress!

Meals

When it comes to meals, setting achievable goals can help you build a healthy, balanced routine without feeling overwhelmed. Consider setting small, realistic goals that align with your lifestyle.

Another realistic goal is to plan three meals a week that focus on protein, fiber, and healthy fats, supporting your weight loss journey. Choose recipes that are quick, simple, and enjoyable to make, so it doesn’t feel like a chore. The goal isn’t to overhaul your diet overnight; it’s to make steady improvements that fit into your life. Achieving these small meal goals regularly helps you build a strong foundation for long-term success without overloading your willpower. Use this meal plan to help keep meeting your goals!

Motivation

Willpower is a valuable tool but can waver over time. That’s why having SMART goals—Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound—is essential. Start by turning your “why” into a SMART goal. For instance, if your “why” is to be more active, create a SMART goal like “I’ll walk for 15 minutes after lunch three times this week.” This goal is achievable, relevant to your journey, and keeps you accountable.

Visualize your success each day by reading your WHY card in the morning and evening. This small habit keeps your purpose front and center, fueling your motivation and reinforcing your goals. And remember, don’t hesitate to adjust goals if life gets hectic! Realistic adjustments keep you moving forward without burnout. By staying focused on your “why” and regularly setting SMART goals, you’re giving yourself the best chance to succeed—one step at a time.

XOXO,
