Mindset

This week, we will dive into the incredible connection between movement and mindset. We know that movement is often linked to changing the number on the scale, but the benefits run far deeper than that—and they’re about how movement transforms your mind and emotions.

Here are some key mindset benefits of movement that we will discussing:

  • Improved Mood: Moving your body releases those “feel-good” endorphins, instantly boosting your spirits.
  • Stress Management: It helps you manage the stresses of daily life, giving you a healthy outlet to release tension.
  • Better Sleep: Regular movement can improve your sleep quality, helping you wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day.
  • Boosted Self-Esteem: With every bit of movement, you’re showing up for yourself, which helps build self-confidence.
  • Improved Mental Clarity: Physical activity sharpens your mind and enhances focus, making you more present and mindful.
  • Relapse Management: When you’re feeling overwhelmed, even small amounts of movement can help prevent emotional setbacks by redirecting your energy.

A Daily Promise to Yourself: One of the most empowering takeaways is that each time you make the commitment to move, you’re keeping a promise to yourself. Even if it’s just a short walk or some stretching, that action reinforces self-trust and reminds you of your worth. Think of it as a daily act of self-care—a moment to invest in YOU.

Action Steps for the Week Here are a few small but impactful steps to focus on:

  1. Move with Intention: Choose movement that feels good to you, whether it’s a morning stretch, a mid-day walk, or a quick dance session to your favorite song.
  2. Journal Your Wins: After each movement session, take a minute to reflect on how it made you feel mentally and emotionally. Write it down and celebrate your DAILY WIN—those small successes add up!
  3. Be Present: Use movement as an opportunity to practice mindfulness. Focus on your breath, the sensations in your body, and the present moment. This strengthens your mental clarity and helps you manage stress.

The goal is progress, not perfection. Every step you take—whether big or small—is helping you create a healthier, more resilient mindset. Remember, the power of movement is not just in what you lose on the scale, but in what you gain mentally and emotionally.

Keep showing up for yourself, and as always, know that we’re moving together in this journey.

Movement

One of the keys to making movement a consistent part of your routine is recognizing how amazing you feel after a workout! Gracie here, and I want to talk about the power of movement and how it impacts your mindset. For me, the COVID pandemic made me realize how important exercise is in maintaining my mental health. Being stuck indoors, not going to the gym or a workout class, and managing all that stress made me realize just how much movement matters. On the days I didn’t move, I felt sluggish, irritable, and overwhelmed. But as soon as I made it a habit to walk every morning with my roommate (aka my accountability partner), everything changed—I felt more focused, energized, and calm throughout the day. Regular exercise was my anchor during those stressful times, and I remind myself to use movement as a tool whenever I’m feeling stressed out.

Movement can be such a powerful tool for your mental health! In the wise words of Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.”

So how does exercise impact your mental health? Let’s dive a little into the science behind it.

  • Lowers Symptoms of Depression: Exercise releases endorphins, which interact with the receptors in your brain to reduce pain perception and boost your mood—helping to ease symptoms of depression.
  • Trigger a Positive Feeling: Those endorphins also lead to the “runner’s high”—a sense of positivity and energy that comes from any workout, not just running.
  • Reduce the Effects of Stress: When you move, your body mimics the “fight or flight” response, helping your body practice managing stress. It’s a great way to keep your cardiovascular, digestive, and immune systems in balance while protecting your body from the harmful effects of stress.
  • Meditation in Motion: Exercise allows you to clear your mind and forget the day’s irritations and focus on your body’s movements. Regular movement helps you stay calm, centered, and optimistic.
  • Improve Self-Image: Movement can boost your confidence and self-esteem. Plus, it can help regulate your appetite and contribute to weight management—leading to an even greater sense of well-being.
  • A Form of Self-Care: Consistent exercise is a powerful way to prioritize your health and happiness. It’s a little “you-time” in a busy world.

Feeling stressed or unmotivated? Try these tips to make movement a regular part of your routine even when you don’t feel like it.

    • Exercise in Short Bursts: Break it up! Three 10-minute walks can add up to 30 minutes without feeling overwhelming.
    • Five-Minute Rule: Commit to just 5 minutes. Once you get moving, you might surprise yourself and keep going—but if not, at least you did something!
    • Get Outside: Changing up your environment like going for a walk around the block can help your mind to reset.
    • Schedule It: Treat your workout like an important appointment. Schedule it, and show up for yourself.
    • Do What You Love: Find something that excites you—whether it’s dancing, yoga, walking, or kickboxing. The best exercise is the one you enjoy.
  • Turn up the Tunes: Have a little dance party to get the blood flowing! Check out our Movement Mission Playlist for some inspiration.
  • Check-in after your Workout: Write down in a journal or on a note on your phone how you’re feeling after your workout, including how well you slept and your mood throughout the day. Use that as motivation next time you’re questioning whether or not to exercise. You’ll never regret a workout!

Movement isn’t just about fitness—it’s about feeling good, staying energized, and managing stress. Take a small step today, and let it become your go-to tool for a happier, healthier you!

Meals

Good nutrition is key to getting the most out of your exercise and staying on track with your goals. Eating the right foods, especially protein, gives your body the energy it needs for workouts and helps your muscles recover faster. When your body is fueled properly, you’ll feel stronger and have more stamina, making it easier to stay consistent with exercise. This is a big part of what we focus on in Project Reset, where we combine smart eating with movement to help you succeed.

Nutrition also plays a big role in how you feel mentally. Eating balanced meals with enough protein, healthy fats, and good carbs can help keep your energy stable and your mood positive. When you’re feeling good, it’s easier to stay motivated and keep moving forward with your goals. High-protein meals, in particular, help you stay full and avoid energy dips. Here is a collection of high protein breakfast recipes to help get your days started to support your movement!

Motivation

Let’s talk about why movement matters beyond just the physical benefits. Movement is an act of commitment—a promise you make to yourself—and every time you follow through, you’re proving that you can trust yourself to show up. That’s powerful.

When motivation feels low, remind yourself: it’s not about pushing harder or doing more. It’s about showing up, no matter how small the step. Each time you move your body, you’re sending a message to yourself that you matter. That message builds resilience and strength, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you build momentum:

  • Momentum Creates Motivation: You don’t wait for motivation to move—you move, and the motivation follows. Even 5 minutes of movement can flip the switch on your mindset.
  • Small Wins Add Up: Remember, it’s the small, consistent actions that create long-term change. Whether it’s a short walk, some light stretching, or a quick workout, every effort counts. And with each action, you’re stacking those wins.
  • Honor Your Promise: Every time you move, you’re honoring that promise to yourself. That’s how self-respect is built—one step, one promise at a time. And trust me, keeping promises to yourself is the ultimate confidence booster.

“Motivation isn’t something you find, it’s something you create. Every time you move, you’re creating momentum—one small step is all it takes.”

When the day feels hard, just start. Movement doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to happen. Keep that promise to yourself, and you’ll see how quickly your mindset transforms.

You’re stronger than you think, and every movement you make is proof of that.

Let’s keep moving forward—together!
